The utility of this Wall Street Turk is evident the moment you enter and gaze at the orderly and fresh selection of meze, the little appetizing dishes that form the vegetarian heart of the cuisine. The cumin-scented hummus is particularly good, and the cinnamony home-stuffed grape leaves may be the best in town. Also impressive is imam bayildi ("the priest fainted"), stuffed and braised baby eggplants. Meat selections lag behind, including a doner kebab (a/k/a shawarma) of lamb and veal that slices a little dry and arrives implanted in a rubbery bread like a flour tortilla. Grilled lamb chops are more succulent.
