CLOSED AS OF JUNE 2011. At the Complex, St. Louis' largest gay dance club, hooking up is a high priority. But even that takes a back seat during the over-the-top weekly drag shows. The mood and music can vary from room to room, but no matter which bar you choose, the all-you-can-drink specials are hard to beat.

For twenty years the Complex was a big gay oasis in the middle of a post-industrial landscape, where the fabulous congregated and the rainbow reigned. The Complex is a model of gay diversity; most nights the racial makeup of attendees pretty well mirrors the racial makeup of the city. But it doesn't stop with queer folk and fag hags. For Queer As Folk fans, the Complex is about as close as St. Louis can come to Babylon, the club where Michael, Dr. Dave, Brian, Justin, Ted and Emmett regularly socialize. The booming sound system cranks out some great disco/dance tunes while a light show and mirrored disco ball gleam in the bar's industrial steel on the walls and bars. Yeah, this place is CRAZY! I saw a burlesque/drag show here that was super wild! A fun place to go that handed out condoms at the door when we left LOL
