Constructed in the late 1890s (once home to Nabisco), these buildings were subsequently bought in 1995, having been abandoned in the '50s. The idea behind Chelsea Market is one-stop shopping, but the owners of the market have really put time and dedication into keeping the market as visible as the old factories. Although there is something inherently exhausting about the "hipness" of Chelsea Market, at the end of the day the bakeries and the food shops make it worth the while.
