Description

Can an upscale Belgian beer cafe work on one of the weirdest, wildest stretches of Colfax Avenue? Absolutely. Not only is the Cheeky Monk a destination restaurant for all you European beer snobs looking for unpronounceable brews made by monks who've dedicated their lives to Jesus and zymurgy, but it also happens to be a great place to sample the rather unique cuisine of the Benelux -- all mussels and frites and sausages and some of the best sauerkraut ever made. You can thank the folks who brought us a true Brit pub in Aurora -- the Royal Hilltop -- for giving Colfax this cheeky concept.

Open since 2007, the Cheeky Monk is the place to go when you're looking for something different. More »

But earlier this year, the original Monk (there are now two more in the metro area) answered a lot of people's prayers by adding a dozen new handles and doubling its bottle list... More »

  • 2011 | Best Beer Glassware

Founded by Tina and James Pachorek, the Cheeky Monk has always focused on Belgian beers. Over the past year, however, both the original Monk on Colfax and its new brother in Westminster have broadened that focus to include the new world of American craft beer. But their dedication to fine brews holds firm -- and not just in what beers they serve, but what they will serve them in. You'll find at least 35 styles of glassware at the Monk, most designed by breweries to hold their particular... More »
