Description

Founded by local promoter couple-extraordinaire Garo Gallo and Yvonne Colón, IWAN space the Bubble warehouse/gallery/music venue serves as a hub for Broward County's creative base. Imagine concert-hall-quality acoustics, 3,000 square feet to boogie your ass off or wallflower around (this doesn't include the giant space outside), two stages, and loads of local art littering the walls by artists such as Lisa Parrott, Peter Giovenco, Erick Arenas, and Francesco LoCastro. (Fun fact: LoCastro also painted the rad mural that covers the front of the warehouse.) Gallo and Colón conceptualized the downtown Fort Lauderdale spot years ago as a venue where oft-underrepresented artists can display their work, indie musicians can rehearse and record, and networking and promotion will help solidify the local arts community. Their vision officially began to materialize in April 2009, when the couple purchased the space. Since then, they've been booking acts, showcasing countless artists, and renovating tirelessly. "This way, we don't have to answer to club owners with bad taste," Gallo quipped.

In the past decade or so, we've been inundated with bubbles: the dot-com bubble, the housing bubble, the stock market bubble, Michael Jackson's chimp Bubbles. After all these messes, the term stopped conjuring up images of that beloved bathing staple Mr. Bubble and became synonymous with the plundering of your 401-K. Luckily, longtime promoters/power couple Garo Gallo and Yvonne Colón are reappropriating the term in a way that will thrill those concerned about the health of South... More »

The Fort Lauderdale Arts, Music & Culture scene has HOPE with hip, community- minded youth such as Garo and Ivonne, Valyn and everyone that lends both hands to bringing creative expression to willing eyes and ears. The Maverick Artist Victor-Hugo is sharing several of his fine art pieces birthed of pain and suffering and as always challenging the viewer to Think...Live...Love...Flow.

Garo and Yvonne are walking the walk! They have manifested a hip vibe in the heart of Fort Lauderdale's creative incubator, literally, creating a stage for the expression of visual and musical arts. We are jazzed to be part of the upcoming event on March 17th: "The Art of Pain" curated by Valyn Calhoun and featuring original fine art pieces by The Maverick Artist Victor-Hugo Vaca Jr: "Sensual Magic", "Baker Act", "el Toro" and "Bully in the Playground with Muse".
