There's a reason why there is a constant line outside the door here - the food. The hustle and bustle of Midtown's the breakfast klub is all part of the show, from hungry onlookers on the outside eagerly watching the food being delivered to tables, to the expression of satisfaction on the faces of customers leaving this shrine of soul food cuisine. Signature dishes include the incredible Katfish and Grits and the equally good Wings and Waffles. While catfish and chicken may strike some as not fitting for breakfast, they simply don't know what they're missing.
This week we are just THROWING money at you guys! (We were going to say food, but throwing food is mean. And messy.) First we offered you half-off at Rioja to help you celebrate National Paella Day in... More »

HORRIBLE!!! This place is filthy (as proven by the Health Department). The food is below average: 1) the chicken is greasy, 2) the waffles are soft, 3) all the grease dripping of the chicken ruined the waffles, 4) the bacon and eggs were the best thing on the menu (but anyone can scramble eggs and fry bacon). The self service coffee bar and condiments area is always filthy and nasty. Hygiene isn't a priority. Stay away and go to breakfast somewhere that values cleanliness and good food...like Buffalo Grill, Avalon Grill, Barnaby's, etc., etc.
A true Houston landmark, the breakfast klub in Midtown is a hub of activity during its limited operating hours -- 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturdays, and 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. on weekdays. Featuring a rib-sticking soul-food menu and service that is both quick and friendly, the breakfast klub will start your day off right. Must-tries include the famous Chicken and Waffles and the Catfish and Grits. This is a great breakfast or brunch spot with some of the best fried chicken you'll ever have. It... More »
The Breakfast Klub Marcus Davis, owner of The Breakfast Klub, is a God-fearing man. And his food is divine. For two years, this breakfast, lunch and social haven in Midtown has served up consistently fantastic Southern-fried catfish, wings 'n' waffles, pancakes, grits and, oh yeah, lunch items. Even on the busiest days (and with the 6 a.m. to 2 p.m. hours, it's busy) the eggs are fluffy, the sausage peppy and the coffee reliable. For those who haven't experienced a Southern-fried breakfast... More »
Mmm, butter. From the neatly folded three-egg omelettes to the crisp Texas toast to the mess o' fluffy grits, The Breakfast Klub's grub is saturated with it. And what's not dripping with butter is perfectly fried, which is what makes the wings-and-waffle breakfast plate and the catfish and grits so popular. This little joint, housed in a former convenience store in Midtown, has a down-home atmosphere to match its menu. Owner Marcus Davis himself is likely to greet you at the door when you... More »
Catfish and grits may sound odd to you, but it's a popular breakfast dish in the Southeast, particularly in Georgia and the Carolinas. And while Roscoe's House of Chicken and Waffles in L.A. made that kooky combination famous, it was actually invented by jazz musicians in New York during the Harlem Renaissance. Whether you're partial to unusual breakfasts or ordinary ones, the Breakfast Klub has got you covered. Ham, eggs, sausages, breakfast chops, hash browns, grits, toast, biscuits and,... More »
