Technically, The Bourgeois Pig on Franklin Avenue in the Hollywood Hills is a coffee shop. And sure, there is the long counter, the slightly annoyed barista and the typical array of lattes, mochas, croissants and teas. But with a pool table in the back of the long, dark room and an odd jungle conclave off to one side, the coffee is an afterthought at best. Young, scruffy types saunter down from Beachwood Canyon to sit under the fake branches and purple mood lighting until all hours of the night, which is perfect since The Pig stays open until 2 a.m.
