Description

The Bagel Store sits in a quiet strip mall in the heart of Little Russia. But it's staffed by young guys who really know their Jewish doughnuts, and if you go early (it closes at 2 p.m. on the dot), you can look right through the doors to the huge bakery in the back, with vats of bagels steaming in their water and guys working the dough. You can smell the place doing things right, and pick up not only a passable version of an East Coast egg bagel, but a half-dozen fantastic salt bagels for less than six bucks.

But you'll want to go early, anyway, when you can look right through the doors to the huge bakery in the back and see vats of bagels steaming in... More »

Q: I'm originally from New York and have been searching in vain for any place that sells bialys. No one here has ever heard of them, and they are so much better than a heavy bagel. I also miss tofu-scallion cream cheese, but that would be pushing ... More »
