Unless they're tiny taco stands, Mexican restaurants are hit-or-miss down here. Tequila Sunrise is almost always a big hit, and the fact that you can get 50 tequilas plus Dos Equis amber on tap (!) is part of the reason. Multiply those factors by the number of margaritas available and you risk the serious possibility that you won't even taste your food - especially if you get your booze in the 46-ounce "fishbowl." You'll find your standard assortment of Tex-Mex delicacies here - including some of the best chile rellenos around - and some offerings you don't find on many Mexican menus (blue crab enchiladas, nachos, and chimichangas, for instance). Though located in an undignified strip mall, the vibe inside is cozy and friendly.
One of the best Mexican restaurant options around. Reasonable prices for good food and margaritas - plus some outdoor seating.
Not the bet Mexican Food, not the best of locations, but generally good food and good drinks and a lively atmosphere at reasonable prices
Everything is great on the menu. You cannot go wrong with anything you order from there. Everything is so fresh, and you can't get dishes like this anywhere else. The whole staff is like family to me and they are some of the best people I know. They are sure to brighten your day or night. The atmosphere is very family oriented But you can still get wild at the bar and have some fun. They have so many different tequilas with different blends. They would have to explain the different kinds. they have this one called Almandrado. It is almond tequila. It is an after-dinner Tequila. This is a gem of a restaurant. Trust me you will love it.
Maybe it's the newborn baby-sized deep fried chimichangas. Or ice creams that aren't quite ready for consumption until they are dipped in batter, coated in Corn Flakes, fried then lathered ... More »
Here's a clue -- this shot was taken at a restaurant located in a strip mall. Does that narrow it down a bit? It's in Broward County. From the photo, it's pretty obvious what kind of food is served he... More »
Sometimes a waitress can be so genuinely friendly and attentive that her mere presence feels like a warm hug. If you have sat in Lori McMahon's section at Tequila Sunrise, then you can probably attest to that level of waiterly affection. If you're a regular, you've probably been on the receiving end of numerous actual hugs and countless "rock-on" hand gestures and shouted "love yas" as well as consistently topnotch service. It's impossible not to notice McMahon when dining at the locally... More »
If you're talking about margaritas, here's a simple truth: Quantity trumps quality every time. Not that ten bad margaritas are better than five good ones. It's simply that a very good margarita the size of a Seaworld holding tank is gonna do a lot more for you than a totally excellent margarita the size of, say, a margarita. And it's this truth that keeps sauce-monsters returning religiously to Tequila Sunrise, a delightful Mexican eatery that combines American excess with Mexicali... More »
