Once home to a fairly run-down Baron's Restaurant and Lounge, the building at 4335 West 38th Avenue was taken over by new owners, remodeled and reopened as Tennyson's Tap in early 2011. A big improvement over its predecessor, Tennyson's is a bar and restaurant on the edge of the Berkeley neighborhood that serves a decent selection of Colorado spirits and brews. On First Fridays, the bar also doubles as an art gallery for local artists and is part of the Tennyson Street Art Walk. Inspired by the bygone days of traditional Western saloons, the decor includes a 25-foot-long black-walnut bar top as well as knotty alder woodwork. Tennyson's also sports a number of TVs, pinball and a jukebox.
