Ever since the Food Network dropped by this bar across the street from Lincoln Park's golf course, some people have been getting the wrong idea about the Tee Off. Guy Fierl described it as a "five star dive bar" -- yet newcomers who've heard about the Tee Off's now-famous food apparently missed the "dive bar" part of Fierl's phrase. They come in expecting a fancy chophouse instead. The Tee Off, however, is anything but fancy. AstroTurf-style plastic grass sits in place of carpeting. A NASCAR lamp illuminates the pool table. And the walls are decorated with rock posters, sports banners, and kids' drawings. All told, the Tee Off is closer to a caddy shack than an ostentatious eatery, although the food menu -- which includes pork chops, Cajun gumbo, calimari, burgers, and more -- is noticeably more upmarket than the one at your average Budweiser beer parlor.
