In a nondescript shopping mall on the edge of St. Paul is an unlikely gem of a Szechuan restaurant. It is an unexpected joy when you open the door to another world and enter the elegant dining room, with detailed Asian carvings lining the walls--backlit and stunning--showcased in the room decorated in opulent red and black. The vast menu includes many familiar dishes like mu shu pork and lo mein, but we recommend trying the Shanghai mini juicy buns, the tea-smoked duck, or one of many delightful whole fish dishes. Tea House 2 also has stellar lunch specials for $6.50 with eggroll and soup, including a wonderful Peking shredded pork in a sweet plum sauce. This restaurant is a true hidden treasure.
