Ramshackle, bare-bones, perpetually crowded hole in the wall offers excellent tacos, tostadas, tortas, and burritos at rock-bottom prices. The lengua (beef tongue) taco is tender and luscious; the al pastor (marinated pork) burrito is peppery and edged with lime and cilantro; the chorizo (sausage) torta is sweet, spicy, and habit-forming. Note to people who don't quite understand ("foodie" online reviewers, this means you): Taquerias are informal eateries, meant to provide decent, fast meals -- much like delis. They're not supposed to have "décor," they're supposed to have beer signs, and expecting anything else means you're missing the point. Not that you would, but you could ... have a burrito with sesos (aka beef brains) or lengua (tongue) at El Farolito, the best of the burrito bunch adjacent to the 24th Street BART station. Even with some of the top Mission District Mexican food just steps away, diners seem to be perpetually lining up inside this somewhat cramped, less than sparkling hole in the wall. Why?
