Taqueria del Sol is not Tex-Mex. (One tell-tale sign: The cheese is white, not yellow.) They specialize in authentic Mexican food like caldo de res, machacadas, barbacoa and milanesa. They also sell food anyone would recognize, like enchiladas and burritos, but undiluted by non-traditional accouterments. The chile con queso and salsa are homemade and popular, as are the cheap breakfast plates. The wait can be long on weekends, which is the only time menudo is served.
