Description

This converted Pizza Hut barely resembles its former checkered-tablecloth self with a completely remodeled interior that includes murals of the Taj Mahal, vases and henna-covered hands. The buffet takes up most of the back wall with the all-you-can-eat staples (salad, fresh fruit and desserts) on one side and the heated Indian dishes to the right of the cash register. The selection varies by day but always includes naan (flat bread) and spicy rice. Other options include curried vegetables, chickpeas in sauce, creamed spinach, battered and fried potatoes and tandoori chicken. It's a chance to sample some of the dishes served on the full menu in dinner portions.

I love this little place near my office for lunch! The staff is friendly, the vibe is warm, the walls are decorated with cool Indian paintings and the naan is always, always freshly baked and warm! Five stars!

The friendly staff will take orders from the menu, but the best deal is the $7.99 lunch buffet ($9.99 for dinner). On any given day, fresh batches of chicken tikka masala and saag paneer beckon... • 2002 | Best Use of Spinach

Popeye's straight-from-the-can approach to spinach has nothing on Taj Express' creamed spinach, and neither does any other spinach dish we've tried. Almost always available on the buffet, this spinach creation isn't bitter or oily and is mixed with chunks of soft cheese. We prefer it slathered on Taj's warm nan. Fortunately for those who dare not like the steamed greens, the buffet is also stocked with rice and dishes such as fried potatoes, tandoor chicken, chickpeas in sauce and curried... More »

Lunch special: Buffet $5.99 Water refills: 20 Plate refills: 20 A tasty food magnet drew my car to the "$5.99 Buffet" sign in front of Taj Express. And I would like to take this moment to thank that magnet for bringing the wonder and merriment... More »
