Tailgators is a sports bar located in a large box of a building on the corner of Commercial Boulevard and Bayview Drive, which has seen many businesses come and go. But this one, hopefully, seems to have done all the right things to increase its staying power. Inside the layout is that of an intimate theater. The entrance is the highest point in the building, other than the bar to your right. From there it descends into a pit area that contains a dance floor and stage. There is live music regularly during the week on a dance floor normally occupied by a ping pong table. The pit area also contains the usual bar games, even a claw vending machine. The décor throughout is tasteful with dark woods and black granite topped bars. And like any good sports bar no line of sight is without a flat screen. They have a full bar, serve food for lunch and dinner, and customers reap the added bonus of getting their beers in chilled mugs.
