Now that Brooklyn Thai has become a bona fide culinary genre, with nearly a score of examples in Williamsburg, Greenpoint, and Carroll Gardens, we can afford to be picky about which places we eat at. This place is a cut above its Williamsburg brethren, with beef and papaya salads featuring a particularly tangy dressing, and excellent curries with enough fluid to drench plenty of rice-choose plain, sticky, or coconut-laced. Though the pad Thai was a little sweeter than it ought to be, the duck with chile sauce was spectacular, boneless and crunchy with a mild pepper burn.
Thais have been springing up over the last five years in W'burg, Greenpoint, and Carroll Gardens, offering a take on the cuisine that, while good, is blander than Queens Thais. Best is TAI THAI, located right in the 'Burg tenderloin, offering tangy salads and coconut-laced curries a cut above the rest. Favorite dish: duck with chile sauce. More »
