Specializing in popular Tex-Mex cuisine, this restaurant, opened in 2008 by Corey McCauley and Jeffrey Kowitz, offers tacos across the spectrum. Among the most popular dishes is the Lester, a combination of soft flour tortilla, a hard shell tortilla, refried beans and sirloin-all for $2.59. The menu, devised by employee collaboration, has no item over $7. Taco Joint's dedication to Texas and the state's folk cuisine is visible in the mural. On it, the Lone Star State's flag fills out the eatery's name, sharing space with the Texas Star.
I reached down to my right, pulled the small plastic lever, pushed back in my seat and moaned. We were puttering down U.S. 75 in a tinny Honda hybrid, three men on a mission. I felt an intense pressure emanating deep from within, and hoped that... More »
Before brunch, there was breakfast: an honest, no-frills meal that started the day at home, or at the diner, or, if you were lucky, at the taqueria around the corner. While brunch is all about the han... More »

Jalapeño ranch and salsa bar count: 1 Times I was amazed by how good crispy tacos could be count: 50 Urban Taco can suck one. A big fat one with a tattoo that says, "Mockingbird Station ain't effin' urban, and real tacos are big as yo' face."... More »
It's best to start your morning off with a kick. At least that's the belief of Taco Joint fans, who love to smother their breakfast tacos with a condiment praised the city over. Try it out: Ask a random stranger what goes best on a bacon and egg taco and the response will likely be "Jalapeño ranch at Taco Joint, duh." In fact, there are probably very few foods that the condiment wouldn't flatter. The savory ranch is light and the jalapeño kick chases off any trace of a hangover... More »
Here's how you can tell that the food's legit at Taco Joint: Every time you go there -- and when you do, you better go before 2 p.m., because that's when they close, and breakfast and lunch are all this place serves -- you'll find yourself surrounded by people wearing hospital scrubs. Baylor employees, one assumes. But, thing is, the Joint isn't that close to Baylor. And it's not particularly healthy either. So, what gives? Our best guess: It's too damn tasty to turn down --... Ever since our college days in Austin, we've found Dallas severely lacking in the breakfast taco department. Sure, you can find them, but they rarely live up to the expectations one is burdened with after living in the Breakfast Taco And Live Music Capital of the World. The Taco Joint does the breakfast taco right, however, serving up eggs and cheese with bacon, sausage, potatoes, chorizo or beans on flour tortillas along with delicious homemade salsas that tickle the palate but don't... Best breakfast tacos in Dallas!
Best breakfast tacos and veggie burritos. Jalapeno ranch dressing...need I say more?
Tacos! God, I love this place. The portions are huge (I think they put a whole pig on the bacon breakfast taco), and their jalapeno ranch and tomatillo sauces are to die for. They close at 2pm everyday, though.
