Located right upstairs from Cafe Du Nord is its auditoriumlike sister venue, the Swedish American Hall. Music usually ranges from country and folk to indie rock and beyond.
Early on in our writing “career,” we penned long missives about Jewel and our high school boyfriend leaving us for that tramp at Perkins. Thankfully those works were rightfully set on fire in a purging ritual (fine, hex) and never saw the light... More »
With Thanksgiving looming next, this week marks the last chance of enjoying a last non-holiday related drinking. No silly apparel, no relatives, and you can do some good while you're at with some fund... More »
You may know him as Feist's or Peaches' producer. Or perhaps you read about him in the Guinness Book of World Records, in which he holds the title for longest piano solo (27 hours, to be precise). If ... More »
If you thought that this past week was boozy, well, this weekend might take us back to Barbary Coast-era lows of sobriety. Cocktail Week wraps up this weekend with plenty of daytime drinking starting... More »

Event Review: "Zahara!"
This show is amazing! I saw it at the Cowell Theater last year and now it's back by popular demand! The combination of Flamenco and belly dance is awesome and the blending of musical styles, including moroccan musicians and a gypsy singer from Jerez Spain, is an inspiration. This is a chance to see some great international artists not only do what they do best- but blend their styles- creating something entirely new and mind-blowing.
