Description

The former proprietors of Tucson's Sushi Ten have opened a new eatery in Ahwatukee, and fans of authentic Japanese cuisine have been quick to pick up on it. The spare dining room's bright and open, with plenty of seating at the sushi bar and tables scattered throughout the room. As for the sushi, it's some of the best around — extremely fresh, and reasonably priced. Homey hot dishes, like the perfectly crisp pork katsu and the authentic chicken yakisoba, are tasty and filling. Even if you know nothing about Japanese food, it's easy to order here, thanks to eye-catching, photo-filled menus.

Rockin' Ramen: Sushi Ken, Republic Ramen, and More Fill You Full of Noodles and Broth

  • 2010 | Best Japanese Restaurant

When all our Japanese friends started telling us Sushi Ken was their favorite place in town, we wasted no time in heading down to Ahwatukee for a sushi fix. Sure enough, the sushi here is great, but there's so much more to the menu that makes us happy. From savory ramen noodle soup that satisfies with its complex broth to tempura and crispy tonkatsu pork, Sushi Ken covers all the bases and keeps it real. This is straightforward, family-style eating just like you'd find in Japan, right down... More »

  • 2007 | BEST JAPANESE RESTAURANT

We first found out about this recent addition to the Ahwatukee dining scene from several friends who raved about it -- and all of them are Japanese. Kinda says something about a place, doesn't it? Of course, you don't need to be a Nippon native to figure out what a find Sushi Ken is. We love the casual, unpretentious atmosphere, the glossy, photo-filled menu (which makes us drool every time), and the easy-on-the-wallet prices. (Dinner combos for under ten bucks? Hai!) So far, we haven't... More »
