From floor to ceiling, Sugar House is a warm, flesh-toned palace: Peachy leather sofas sit up against tan and chocolate walls, resting under flat-screen TVs that, when not broadcasting a football game, burn brightly with moving silhouettes of naked women. But the swingers-club-by-night is also a prime lunch and dinner spot during the day, proudly serving fresh local beef in the form of handmade, never-frozen burgers and an array of seasoned steaks. The lounge touts its bulging menu as "better bar food," and that's no empty boast: The cut-to-order chili-cheese fries come covered in homemade green chile, and the breaded and fried quesadilla bites are a Sugar House original. Salads, burritos and fried things are certainly available, but meat is the focus. House-made "infusion burgers" let diners mix ingredients like pineapple and mozzarella directly into the patty before it's charbroiled. The "Bust-A-Nut Ale" is a Tommyknocker maple nut brew made special for the bar, but absinthe and other intricate cocktails (served by scantily-clad women, no less) are what bring drink connoisseurs to Sugar House. On weekends, when the bar swings into club mode, the back-room dance floor opens up for DJ-driven events and the upstairs becomes an adult, smoker-friendly playground.
