Sue Ellen’s has been a staple in Dallas’ gay and lesbian nightlife since 1989. In 2008, it relocated to Throckmorton Road, where it neighbors many of the city’s most popular gay and lesbian clubs. Advertised as a predominantly lesbian bar, the new two-story building hosts live bands throughout the week, karaoke on Mondays and a large disco ball suspending over the club’s spacious dance floor. Sundays are the bar’s mellowest night, when people gather to play skeeball, pool and darts, or hang out in the bar’s gated patio out front.
