Named after a local Cobble Hill street and not a bodybuilder's gym, Strong Place is a Brooklyn bistro, par excellence. A long list of craft ales sets the stage, and from that point proceeds a succession of very good snacks (cucumber and jicama crudite), raw shellfish (fluke crudo with pickled cucumber and American caviar), market driven salads (beet tartare), seafood (fried oyster sandwich), and meat (beef braised in porter), with no poultry to speak of. The menu is quirky but reassuring at the same time, and the narrow deep space provides a choice of cozy seating.
