The blues in Stella Blues seem more like an afterthought - the name was good, so they went with it, and then bought two giant statuettes of the Blues Brothers to anchor the theme. St. Louis is a major blues city, after all, but it's Marvin Gaye and Bob Dylan on the wall at Stella Blues instead of local legends like Johnnie Johnson and Josephine Baker. Recently reopened after a two-year hiatus, Stella Blues offers a mind-numbing array of shots and bombs, with a crowd composed of clean-cut folks who mondegreen the old adage into "work out hard, party hard."
