Stand-Up Paddleboarding 

Unless you're JC or a demon, walking on water is simply not going to happen. Which is a pity, because we're surrounded by water in Miami, and most of the best spots in town are on Biscayne Bay, the Atlantic Ocean, or the thousands of lakes and other bodies of water in our midst. Luckily, there's a way to explore all of that H2O without having to rent or buy a boat -- or sell your soul. Stand-up paddleboarding has floated onto the national scene as a trendy, outdoor activity with a bunch of fitness benefits (it's great for the core, arms, and shoulders). It's like surfing a long board but without waves. Instead, you have paddles and can move around at your leisure. But it takes some practice to become proficient, and that's where the Standard comes into the picture. The exclusive hotel offers weekly classes for newbies looking to learn the sport. Beginning Saturday afternoons, hourly classes depart the bay behind the hotel's yoga dock. Paddleboards and equipment are provided.
