Stacy's Smokehouse

Stacy Phipps, owner of defunct downtown soul food fave Stacy’s, is back on the dining scene with a new place, and his food’s just as delicious as ever. Now the emphasis is on barbecue – ribs, pulled pork, brisket, you name it -- smoked over over almond and hickory wood. But all the old standbys are here, too, from crunchy fried catfish to greens, yams, hush puppies, and more. And after 3 p.m., Phipps does up his famous fried chicken – definitely worth a try. The atmosphere’s bare-bones, but so are the prices, so fill up on good grub that’s shockingly easy on the wallet.
