World Chess Hall of Fame

Map & Directions 4652 Maryland Ave.
St. Louis, MO 63108

Merchant's Description

The World Chess Hall of Fame’s current focus is building awareness for the cultural and artistic significance of chess. It presents exhibitions of artistic and historical significance and offers interpretive programs that lend context and meaning to chess. In addition, the WCHOF commemorates the careers of its Hall of Fame inductees.

The World Chess Hall of Fame is now the only chess-focused institution that includes both a hall of fame and a museum, and it is the only solely chess-focused collecting institution in the United States.

The King piece at the World Chess Hall of Fame measures over 14 feet tall with a 6 foot diameter base. Certified as the world's largest chess piece by Guinness on April 24, 2012. Checkmate.

Definitely not your usual "Hall of Fame" or "museum" experience, to say the least. But an interesting place nonetheless. Check it out, fellow STLers.
