Riverfront Times' Description

The Book House was founded by Michelle Barron in 1986, Family owned and operated for over 25 years, we are located in an historic Victorian house built in 1863, with a cozy friendly atmosphere patrolled by Blake, our store cat and official greeter, and at least one documented ghost.

    The Book House is a used book store located inside a fairly large, run down, nineteenth century house. Its practically stuffed with out of print books. What's the appeal? 1. In the nineteenth century, the house was a well known brothel along Manchester Road, which was a major route in St Louis at one time.     I could spend hours upon hours here. Wall to wall...floor to ceiling. Books stacked everywhere you step. Bargin basement is dingy but worth the venture. Watch your head!

    Tucked slightly off behind some other building is this old house turned used bookstore. Be sure to dig through the basement for the clearance priced books.
