Event Review: Casual Encounters/Missed Connections
If you've ever placed or answered a personal ad, or if you read Missed Connections just for fun, you want to zip on down to Spark and see this show. If you've ever wondered "Who places these ads?" or (more like it) "Who responds to these ads?," then Sean Paul Mahoney is your guy; he brings some of the most intriguing and engaging ads from Craigslist from the page to the stage, where we can follow them to their sometimes tear-jerking, often most-hilarious denouement. The actors have an innate understanding of and easy relationship to the material and ideas, and so the audience in this intimate space connects with them immediately, and when the lights go down, you're gonna wanna shout out, "Wait, do one more ad!" I was tempted to reach for my phone and jump on Craigslist and read the first funny title I could find just to watch them bring the ad to life. A hilarious and passionately-acted show in a friendly and intimate venue that sells $2 PBR at the door, your Encounter with this show will be more than Casual. Have a blast!

A friendly venue in an intimate and engaging space where the audience and the actors can't help but connect. It has a very San Francisco living room feel, which the director uses to maximum effect, and there's a good place for coffee just downstairs. If you're a theater goer, this no-place-else-like-it-in-Denver spot is a must.
