This cluster of Hollywood retail establishments places unique pop-up stores alongside such regular tenants as Urban Outfitters, Umami Burgers, Free People and Hennessey + Ingalls. The multicultural complex is arrayed around an outdoor courtyard that hosts free concerts, film screenings and art exhibits, and it's not unusual to see rising indie-rock stars like Cold Cave and such veterans as Smashing Pumpkins perform surprise shows here. The confluence of so many different retail styles and aesthetic visions helps to bring an interesting cross-section of visitors, and Space 15 Twenty's interconnected walkways and sidewalks make it easy for the casual passerby to drop in spontaneously, whether they're checking out the art books in Hennessey + Ingalls' large, wooden hangar-like structure or shopping for clothes in Urban Outfitters' spacious store. Diners at Umami Burgers, which aspires to serve "fine-dining fast food," can sit inside the restaurant or at open-air tables beside the outdoor stage. Most events are free and all ages. Street parking.

Not sure if we buy the whole Mercury in retrograde theory, but life (night and otherwise) sure has been pretty kooky lately. Apparently the astrological insanity ended this past Sunday, Sept. 12, and here in L.A. it capped off with an explosion... More »
Click here for a Q&A with FYF Fest's Sean Carlson. FRIDAY/SEPTEMBER/3 THE DELTA MIRROR AT SPACELAND Being self-conscious isn't always a bad thing. The Delta Mirror's bio describes the L.A.-based band as channeling the "broken records of mid-'90s... More »
Great all in one stop. Hit up U.O for the latest fashion trends then check out the vintage boutiques for the hard to find items, afterwards grab a bite at the snackbar and maybe check out a band or DJ in the courtyard. I think this is going to be the new "mall" for hipsters.
I can't say that I've actually shopped in any of the stores at Space 15 Twenty, not that I wouldn't, but it is a nice place to sit and chill (literally cool off) while wandering around Hollywood on a hotter than normal spring day.
Keep an eye out for their events, always great!
Back in the day, Cahuenga Boulevard between Sunset and Hollywood was a nasty stretch with little more to offer than the Spotlight tranny bar, the Burgundy Room (host to local DJs and bands) and the Room -- the back-alley speakeasy bar that specialized in hip-hop and acid jazz. Fortunately, Space 15 Twenty brings a little whiff of grungy street life back to the boulevard -- now a shopping mecca for hipsters -- with weekly Thursday-night performances by local acts like Ariel...
