Presenting food principally from Tamil Nadu and Andhra Pradesh, and eschewing the dosa-based cuisine we generally associate with southern India, Southern Spice offers a unique menu that will thrill Indian food enthusiasts-and anyone else who loves pungent food. The mutton menu is a particular delight, including a curry from Chettinad in a pale gravy with a delayed burn, and another that sinks goat in a wonderful sauce of minted coconut milk. From the limited seafood menu find varuthameen, a shark mash-up that would taste great on a sandwich. Vegetarians will delight in a tandoori-cooked entrée of paneer. The premises feel like a library reading room.
