Come for the Midwestern Benihana-style decor, stay for the sushi -- because Sonoda's prepares some of the finest, freshest fish in the city. At any of this local mini-chain's four locations, you can be sure of getting the good stuff, assembled by a kitchen that's spent years trying to get a virtually changeless menu exactly right. Plus, Sonoda's offers some fine non-sushi Japanese cuisine as well, from an excellent miso soup to generous portions of filling soba noodles.

Over the past twenty years, Sonoda's has grown to four locations that serve big crowds. It's clearly making money, and just as clearly pouring it back into buying more fish, since the dining rooms don't look like they've been redecorated since the late '80s.
