Solid Gold is an upscale gentlemen's show club with a full high-end steak-house restaurant called Palms Grille that serves steak, seafood and Italian entrées and even offers tableside flambé for select steak entrees and desserts. The club opens at noon every day and offers a two-for-one happy-hour special until 8 p.m. and a value-priced lunch menu with $3, $5, and $7 entrées. Solid Gold emphasizes a glamorous aesthetic with fully made-up dancers in gowns. Depending on the crowd, DJs spin everything from classic rock and Top 40 to dance hits and hip-hop. Annual parties can get pretty ornate with all sorts of performers, including trapeze artists. Ladies are welcome to party here along with the gents, and the Palms Grille, located in a separate space from the showroom, provides a nice retreat for the timid. Admission and parking are free before 7 p.m.
On the south side of the main dance stage at Solid Gold, one of the few strip joints with a world-renowned reputation, is a pole that stretches skyward from the middle of a gleaming white piano.
