This cozy corner café provides a haven for West Village vegetarians. Walk inside and you'll find a crowd of 20- and 30-somethings typing away on their laptops, even despite the lack of Wi-Fi. Deep red brick walls, rustic wooden tables and a gargantuan chalkboard give the narrow space a worn-in, homey feel, the perfect setting for the café¹s vegetarian comfort food. During the afternoon the place is mostly a coffee shop, with a full range of espresso drinks, plus a long selection of teas, soy shakes and smoothies. People also come in for sandwiches like the roasted vegetable Panini or tempeh reuben, or salads filled with things like quinoa and edamame. You can even stop in early for a tofu scramble wrap or grilled nutella and banana sandwich with your morning coffee. Some dishes are vegan and some are just vegetarian, so make sure to double check the menu if you have dietary restrictions.—Keith Wagstaff
