Smith's Bar is the beginning of your descent into Hell's Kitchen, the boozy, tourist-oriented foil to the Lower East Side. The dive's sports-bar aura is pleasingly familiar: $3.50 Bud Light, an IPA or two on tap, memorabilia-laden decor, a fleet of flat-screens broadcasting the major games, and a dart board. What's interesting about this place, though, is its two-faced layout: the bar serves as the divider between the drinking field (featuring karaoke and live-music nights) and the sit-down seating area. So bring the kids, but keep 'em to the right side of the room.
