Sketch is an exercise in simplicity. There is no kitchen here, no real menu. But there is a sleek, comfortable dining room; a nice wine, liquor and beer selection (with bartenders who actually know a little something about the booze they're pushing); a good downtown vibe; and a short, tight menu of cured meats, cheese and high-grade bar snacks. But he soon moved on to Sketch, where he's returned to his Italian cooking roots, turning out bowls of majestic housemade pastas, including pasta puttanesca -- which, if you didn't already know, was allegedly invented by prostitutes, who relied on the sauce's come-hither perfume to lure customers. But when you order Laird's puttanesca, you're getting a lot more than that: His... More »
AWESOME WHITE SANGRIA (fresh, tasty, and potent) also try starlight martini (i THINK that's what it's called. it was an experiment of a nice couple sitting @ the bar. i think it has fig in it. tdf.)
nice place to take a date for wine.
Sketch-Redux is a hip, neighborhood wine bar. I love the Uncorked! wine tasting events (last Monday of every month) and Wino Wednesday is always a blast. Wino Wednesday is fun and cheap; they have boxed wine for $2 served with cheese and crackers. The wine list is extensive but if you want a beer, they have PBR...lol
