Description

Romantic and intimate, this tiny boîte contains only -- you guessed it - six tables, best secured by reservation. There's only one seating per night, at 7 p.m., and only one price for the whole six-course caboodle ($90 per person, not including wine), which starts with champagne and an amuse bouche, proceeds through soup (including a fantastic lobster bisque) and salad served with delicious homemade bread; peaks with a choice of entrée that varies from Frenched lamb chops to Chateubriande, and ends with cheese, baked fruit, and a sweet. This retro '60s menu (along with the Cole Porter standards and the excellent wine list) is the kind of thing they used to dish out at elite country clubs, but it still does the trick for special occasions.

Rabel Wines
$950.00
Chateau Haut Brion, Pessac-leognan, 1970 (premier Grand Cru Classe)
strong notes of leather with undertones of chocolate & violets. a supple, stylish, medium to full bodied wine with a surprisingly dense flavor. 1970 was an excellent year & this is now perfectly mature. heaven in a bottle
$495.00
Haut Brion ‘blanc’, Pessac-leognan, 1993 (premiere Cru Classe)
sumptuous, oaky, teeming with citrus & exotic fruit flavors. only 10 of haut brion’s 110 acres are dedicated to the production of white wine which makes this a truly rare experience. although an average year for red bordeaux, 1993 was an excellent year in the graves region. now at it’s peak!
$395.00
Latour Haut Brion, Pessac-leognan, 1999 (cru Classe)
very rare & perfectly mature. a medium to full bodied red wine with ripe fruit on the palate & smoky oak on the nose
$425.00
Chateau Pavie, St Emilion, 1982 (premier Grand Cru Classe)
the strongest pavie in the eighties, dark ruby-colored, reveals aromas of strawberry jam intermixed with cherries, dried herbs, earth, & spice. medium-bodied, with beautiful fruit flavors, this sweet, ripe, expansive pavie has reached its apogee
$425.00
Chateau L’arrosee, St Julien, 1982 (grand Cru Classe)
deep warm red color. soft & sweet on the nose yet enormously powerful. mature scents of leather, chocolate fudge, toffee, tobacco & truffles with fine cassis, fresh blackberries & plums. utterly charming
$350.00
Chateau L’arrosee, St Julien, 1986 (grand Cru Classe)
this vintage has taken an atypically long time to round into shape. it has always possessed considerable power as well as a muscular, concentrated style & hefty tannin. beginning to shed its tannin, it reveals an intriguing dusty herb, black cherry, kirsch, & mineral-scented nose, with subtle vanillin from new oak in the background. there are medium-bodied, concentrated flavors with some firm tannin, but by & large this is a very accessible wine. it remains youthful, with only a hint of amber at the edge of its deep ruby/purple color
$325.00
Leoville Barton, St Julien, 1988 (cru Classe)
shows plenty of mint, currant & mineral character on the nose. full-bodied, with big & soft tannins. plenty of mushroom, berry & fruity character. opulent & beautiful
$475.00
Ducru Beaucaillou, St Julien, 1978 (cru Classe)
top shoulder fill. this wine has a fine deep color that can belie its deft elegance of style. there is richness of fruit, complex spiciness of oak, great finesse & exquisite balance
$495.00
Chateau Montrose, St Estephe, 1986 (cru Classe)
wonderfully clean berry fruit with currant, light mint & mineral following through to a full, firm palate with long, silky tannins & a mineral, berry & spice aftertaste. firm, squeaky clean & beautiful
$595.00
Chateau Latour, Pauillac, 1978 (premier Grand Cru Classe)
soaring nose of lead pencil, black cherry, earth, leather & cedar. great penetrating flavors of pure cassis & minerals with muscular tannins. a long tasty finish
$395.00
Chateau Caillou, Sauternes, 1967 (cru Classe)
a rich, ripe & spicy-sweet desert wine with concentrated botrytis flavors underscored by refined oak
$325.00
Chateau Meyney, Medoc, 1989 (cru Bourgeois Superior)
loads of minty, berry & chocolate aromas & flavors. fullbodied, with plenty of velvety tannins & a long, rich finish. built for aging
$595.00
Sebastiani, Sonoma, 1970
dried cherry fruit varietal components anchor oak-barrel accents of vanilla & mocha in this rich yet velvety wine. sebastiani has been making wines for over 100 years in sonoma county. a rare opportunity to taste a 40 year old cabernet
$295.00
Beringer Private Reserve, Napa, 2002
lush black fruit & intense cassis flavors that compliment the baking spice & vanilla aromas. structured tannins with a long finish, unmistakable signatures of a great california cabernet
$295.00
Falletto Barolo, Piemonte, 1998
this is a powerful wine with an inky deep color & surprising finesse. lashings of fruit & creamy vanilla of new oak make this wine a must have
