If you are visiting San Francisco and want a genuine experience you should absolutely stay at one of the cities oldest and grandest hotels. Though it's been restored the Sir Francis Drake Hotel has been a landmark of San Francisco's history for decades and is well worth a night or two. Other than its beauty you are graced with with a presence that not many hotels have and are guaranteed good service and hospitality.
One historic building, this hotel looks a little over-worked, but on Wednesday the lobby host one long ass line as people wait to go to Starlight room. I used to go to Starlight a few years ago, and I remember always having a good time...
