Description

This, the city's oldest Malaysian restaurant, has been an Inner Richmond neighborhood favorite since an immigrant family from Penang opened it in the early '90s. Not much has changed over the years except the decor and lighting have been improved a bit. Service has always been friendly and informal - even more so today, when the family's teenagers are waiting tables. Best bets are the roti canai, a buttery, flaky paratha served with a red curry dipping sauce that would make cardboard addictive; curry mee, a rich coconut-peanut broth packed with wheat noodles, tofu, chicken, shrimp, vegetables, and other goodies; and chow kway teo, wide rice-flour noodles fried to a nice wok char with shrimp, Chinese sausage, scrambled eggs, bean sprouts, and chiles.
