Alphabet City's Sing Sing Karaoke, the messy but lovable older brother of Sing Sing Karaoke St. Marks, revels in its dishevelment. The room itself is essentially a concrete rectangle painted a polluted blue-grey, stocked with cheap liquor, and filled with tuneless stars. But such is the allure: This is about the whole place banding together to produce something listenable. One man's particularly ear-shattering rendition of Third Eye Blind's "Semi-Charmed Life," for example, is another man's priceless generator of camaraderie.
