Description

This Jamaican café and carryout on the far western end of Coney Island specializes in seafood, and the escovitch is superb: a choice of whole porgy or kingfish steak surrounded by masses of sweet pickled onions, served cold. But the smoking drum just outside the door signifies some amazing jerk chicken, especially when the meat is doused with the homemade sauce in the red plastic bottle. Daily soups like red bean and fish head, only $3, are similarly excellent, but alas, Shorefront has stopped making masculinity-enhancing cow-cod soup on Friday. Did they run out of bull penises?
