With its full bar, friendly staff and large patio, think of Shiloh as the Cheers of the Heights. Many regulars - a cast of likely characters full of everything from war stories to neighborhood gossip - have been coming to Shiloh for years, and welcome newcomers with open arms. One TV may be showing the big game, while another might be surrounded by people commenting on the latest Dancing With the Stars episode. During football season, Shiloh has steak night and free pool to go with Monday Night Football, and a locally famous (or perhaps notorious) "Make Your Own Bloody Mary" day on Sundays.

This blue-collar Heights hangout doesn't draw the sexiest crowd, but for colorful characters and unusual enthusiasm, you can't beat it -- especially on weekdays at 6:30 p.m., when Wheel of Fortune is on. Looking at the long bar flanked by two large TVs (both tuned to the show), you'd think it was game seven of the '94 NBA Finals.
