Description
Meat cooked on a vertical rotisserie is called by any number of names: Donair kebab, gyros, Tarna if you're in Armenia. But on The Ave, it's shawarma at Shawarma King. The small, but lavishly decorated dining room -- all done up in lipstick red, with an open kitchen -- draws crowds for its vibrantly seasoned sandwiches, salads, hummus, and fried falafel, recognized in SW as one of the best in the city. Beef, lamb and chicken shawarma are served. Ask for fries in your sammie for some salty crispness. The hookah in the front window is just for show.
