A music venue without an intrusive stage presence, a theme restaurant without the franchised mediocrity, an Irish pub without the manufactured schmaltz -- Shamrock's is a lot of things, but a sincere local fixture is at the top of the list. Lots of quirky entertainment fixtures are scattered about the place -- the most notable being a skill crane machine where the prize is a live lobster the kitchen will cook for you -- and there's a festive atmosphere that's suitable for families, sports fans and beer drinkers alike. (On that latter note, their tap features everything from local favorites like Summit and Finnegan's to Irish standards like Harp, Smithwick's and Guinness.) But the room has retained enough of its old-school West 7th charm to make the place feel like it's belonged there forever.
