Description
For a pub whose name suggests multitudes, Shades of Green has a pretty singular mission statement: to be Union Square's only authentic Irish pub. To do so, it has acquired all the right tools: framed photos of James Joyce and like-minded writers from ye olde country, Guinness on tap, chicken pot pie on the menu, and a room painted in, of course, various shades of green. A simple concept, but one that's otherwise missing from the franchise-laden Union Square cabal. Fittingly, the pub is located a street separated from the surrounding commotion, so it caters to locals.
