  • 2012 | Best Natural Foods Grocery

Since 1972, Seward Co-op has been an example of a passionate business committed to serving the needs of, and keeping resources in, the community. The new green facilities have an open, farmer's market feel, offering organic and earth-friendly options. The 8,000-member co-op stocks culturally specific foods that represent the neighborhood, such as the Ethiopian bread injera, and features diverse live music performances in the sunny dining area every Sunday. You can even learn a few new things... More »

  • 2010 | BEST NATURAL FOODS GROCERY

Ever since Seward Co-op moved into its gleaming, fluorescent-green new digs last year, it has threatened to ruin the reputation of natural-food groceries. Until then, co-ops were known as cramped, dingy stores with nightmarish parking. But Seward's 13,000-square-foot facility feels almost like a supermarket, with wide aisles inside and a no-hassle parking lot that by itself is a reason to eat organic. But this big, 5,000-member co-op sets itself apart in many other ways, notably with the... More »

  • 2009 | Best Natural Foods Grocery

For activists and converts to organic and local food, the new 13,000-square-foot Seward Co-op is the promised land. Yes, it's pricey--but hey, eating well these days costs a fortune wherever you go, and Seward's selection of produce, meats, and cheeses is the best around. The spread of Minnesota dairy is particularly impressive, as are the doughy, delicious, organic local breads. And for shoppers who favor organic produce, Seward stocks more of it than any other natural market in town;... More »

  • 2002 | BEST NATURAL FOODS GROCERY

Co-ops are definitely not for the Birkenstock set anymore--haven't been for years. But Seward has largely bucked the trend toward boutique organic and is celebrating 30 years in the business with its homegrown values, and products, intact. Along with a plethora of grown-without-chemicals products, the co-op also offers enough deli goods to make for a satisfying lunch destination, including fresh sandwiches, fruit smoothies, Fair Trade coffees, and ready-to-heat lasagna, pad thai, mashed... Really cute, just how a Co-Op should be. Always have fresh produce, not too expensive. Also - great cafe/deli area. I personally love the Quinoa Tabouli!!
