Seattle Weekly's Description

The name of this place evokes the image of a fading saloon singer ("Hey, sing us just one more, Torchy"), but R.C. "Torchy" Torrance was actually a captain of industry in Seattle and nicknamed "No. 1 Husky" for his support of UW athletics. The Washington Athletic Club named this dining room after him in 1988. (He went to the great Husky Dawg House in the sky in 1990.) The restaurant offers basic hotel fare for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Don't come here expecting cutting-edge cuisine: On the dinner menu, for example, you'll find a steak, salmon and prime rib. But Torchy's is comfortable, the service is good, the food is well-prepared and the wine list reads like the Washington's greatest hits.
