Seattle Weekly's Description

An early-morning power breakfast in a hallowed downtown restaurant is power incarnate, with lox and capers. Or at least it was in the '80s. The 120-year-old Merchants Café is a hallowed downtown restaurant; the oldest in Seattle, in fact. But it's in Pioneer Square, the Jack Lemmon in Glengarry Glen Ross of downtown business districts. Nevertheless, Merchants serves weekday breakfast beginning at 6 a.m.--along with late-night breakfast service until 4 a.m., with a different target audience in mind. Everything is really, really salty-in other words, perfect for George Wendt.

I hear the basement is haunted by 2 children's ghosts.

Completely redone! Great looking decor...makes you feel like you are going back to the 1920's. Great new staff, bigger beer selection, and new menu.

Ask for Tony and he will concoct a Blue Ninja that will knock you off your feet!

Very cool place!! I had the fried cheese curds and BBQ pork sandwich with Tony's suggestion and they were delicious!! The sandwich was a perfect amount of spicy!! He says its cooked it for two days!!
