Seattle Weekly's Description

With all due affection, Belltown fixture Mama's Mexican Kitchen looks like whatever has been filling the minds of several eccentric souls has exploded onto its walls. It would take an awfully haughty person to begrudge the place its cheap, huge chicken screamer (chicken and sour cream) or Nolasco (veggie) burritos. Mama's boasts Mexican tchotchkes, killer margaritas, random paintings, strings of lights, a bit of Marilyn, and, of course, the famed Elvis room.

Tips from foursquare

  • The Seattle Times on 05/12/10

Bills itself as Seattle's oldest Mexican restaurant. Open since 1974, it knows how to change with the times. But Patrons still draw pictures and caricatures of Elvis on napkins. Happy hour 4-6:30

    Eat in the Elvis room!

  • Jen J. on 01/13/10

Get Bella as your server. She rules.

  • Chris E. on 08/18/11

Mama's is a rabbit warren of rooms, and tucked in the back like a secret is the bar. Chips and salsa so hot you must keep shoveling to quell the pain are an excellent base coat. bartenders friendly.

    Their enchiladas are amazing!
