Seattle Weekly's Description

Not many salmon actually make their way past the Ballard Locks (and sea lions) to Lake Union, but the view from Ivar's makes you want to believe. The city lights, tugboats and barges, kayakers, sailboats, and seaplanes make this a highly entertaining, ever-changing waterway. For that reason, the durable Ivar's menu—clams, salmon, fish and chips—is reassuring and more than a little retro. Like the late Ivar Haglund himself (1905-85), in fact. The dark wood interior and historical photos make the place a bit of a museum, but with the added benefit of cocktails.

Want to sit on the deck? Make sure you go to the hostess on the deck. Otherwise, you're in for a rude awakening and consequently terrible service.

amazing happy hour... gorgeous deck that overlooks lake union and the skyline. Come by boat or more boring car!
